Katipunan USA was founded by father and daughter, Ernie and Donna Delfin during the Summer 2000.
Ernie Delfin received hundreds of emails after his controversial article "Cultural Flaws" in the Philippine Star. Many readers were hurt for this open admission of the cultural flaws of Filipinos. Many readers, especially in the US asked, "What can we do to help our homeland?"
Ernie collaborated with his daughter and decided on the idea of starting a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the Philippines.
This website was officially launched on August 31, 2000 in conjunction with Andres Bonficacio's Katipunan at the dawn of the 19th century.
We chose the name Katipunan USA and the color red to symbolize a revolution to bring change through peace and understanding, not warfare.
Katipunan USA will was founded with the goal to bring much needed change in the Philippines through various projects.
